How to Play
The same guide you get when you first open the app.
Your radar
Aerobove listens for aircraft flying above and around you. The ring spins while it searches.
Each plane appears as a small plane icon pointing the way it is flying. A plain dot is an aircraft with no known direction.
The ring marks about 10 miles around you. A plane that comes inside it can be grabbed.
When a plane is about to enter the ring, it pulses instead of spinning, so you know to get ready.
A plane you grab turns green, and one that flies through without being collected turns red, so you can see at a glance what you have already dealt with.
See it. Grab it.
When a plane comes inside the ring, its card appears with a countdown. Tap the photo before the time runs out to grab it. Miss it and it is gone.
Rarer aircraft give you less time: 20 seconds for a Common, down to 8 for a Legendary.
Rarer is better
Every aircraft has a rarity, and the rarer it is the more XP it is worth.
Spotting an aircraft for the first time earns +10 XP on top, and a new type, airline or country earns more bonuses.
Build your collection
Everything you grab goes into your Collection: aircraft, types and airlines.
Open any grab to see its details, and share a card of it with friends.
Goals to chase
- Bingo. A new board every week. Complete squares and lines for bonus XP.
- Missions. A daily and a weekly goal, with XP when you finish them.
- Leaderboards. Weekly seasons. Compare your XP with your county, your friends and the whole UK.
Play with friends
Open Friends from the menu at the top left of the radar.
- Add a friend. Type a spotter's username and send a request. Once they accept, you are friends.
- Invite someone new. Tap Invite friends to send them the app and your username, so they can add you when they join.
- Friendly rivalry. Friends appear on your Friends leaderboard each week, so you can see who is spotting the most.
- See what they grab. Tap a friend to see their best and recent grabs, or open Friends' Activity. You choose whether to share yours: they show from the next day, never the time or place. Got something special? Tap Share with friends now to show them straight away.
Your location stays yours
Aerobove uses your location only to find aircraft near you.
Your exact position never leaves your phone: only a rounded area is used, and your location is never shown to other players.
